CERAMIC TILE (KACHELOFEN) STOVE KITS
Tile stoves may be considered traditional, but modern at the same time - traditional because they are built mainly according to tried and tested methods, and modern, because they utilize most sources of energy and heating techniques available to us today. A tile stove could utilize wood, coal, gas or electrically heated water and may even have a separate baking compartment attached, according to individual tastes and ideas - allowing for a clean and long lasting radiant heat. The heat is stored in the clay tile's thermal mass, and then slowly radiates into your home for the next 8 to 24 hours.
The Kachelofen is making a comeback in Europe and North America because of its environmental friendliness and cleanliness, and because of the rise in home energy prices. One fire (three wood logs) gives 8 - 24 hours of radiant heat. The fire itself burns quickly, so its gases are non-toxic. It is a dust free way of heating your home which makes it an excellent source of heat for allergy sufferers. Clay is the only material that can radiate heat in such a gentle and comforting way. Even when the oven is on, the Kachelofen never becomes too hot to touch.
It takes about three days for a certified oven builder to put a Kachelofen together. The average size of a Kachelofen is approximately three feet by three feet. Size is dependent on the area being heated.
